A Lion costs 29,999 coins on TikTok in 2026. In real money, that’s about $450 if you buy your coins in the app, and noticeably less, around $340, if you buy them on the website. The creator doesn’t get that amount: they receive Diamonds, worth about $0.005 each at withdrawal, which comes to roughly $75 per Lion under the most common calculation. To receive gifts at all, you need to be 18 and have 1,000 TikTok followers. Here’s the detail, with sources.

How much is a Lion on TikTok?
The coin price has been stable for years: 29,999 coins. Otto AI (guide updated March 30, 2026) and Instasize both confirm it in 2026. The price in money, on the other hand, depends on three things: the coin pack you buy, where you buy it, and your country.
The math is simple: pack price divided by number of coins, times 29,999. Otto uses about $0.015 per coin in the app, which puts a Lion around $450. On the web, TikTok’s official recharge page advertises savings of “around 25%” thanks to lower third-party service fees (page checked on September 22, 2026). Applied to the same price, that’s about $340. Creator @josh.grants, who received a Lion in July 2025, puts it at “about $315 USD, depending on your coin package”.
Two details from TikTok’s official policy on coins and gifts. The price is shown in your currency at the point of purchase, including taxes where the law requires. And you must be 18 to buy coins and send gifts.
What is the TikTok Lion gift?
The Lion is one of the most expensive gifts in the LIVE catalog. When a viewer sends it, an animation of a roaring lion takes over everyone’s screen, with the sender’s name. It’s public: TikTok’s policy states that other viewers, and the creator, can see your name and the gift you sent.
For the creator, it’s a big moment, often clipped and reposted. For the sender, it’s a very visible way to back someone. The video below, posted on July 1, 2025, shows what it means on the creator’s side.

How much does a creator get from a Lion?
This is where the web gets it most wrong. Some pages still claim creators keep 90%, which is false. Here’s what we actually know.
A gift received is converted into Diamonds on the creator’s account. TikTok’s policy says plainly that this conversion rate is set by TikTok “from time to time in its absolute and sole discretion”. It isn’t published. At withdrawal, TikTok shows the value of your Diamonds in dollars: about $0.005 per Diamond, based on our check on March 10, 2026.
The conversion most often cited by creators is one Diamond for every two coins. A Lion would then give about 15,000 Diamonds, or roughly $75. Plenty of guides say $225 instead: they take half of what the viewer paid, which doesn’t match the withdrawal value of a Diamond. My advice: only trust the amount shown in your own withdrawal screen.
Creator Ginevra Adamoli (@socialmediasips) made a video on this exact question in January 2024:

A worked example, using the assumptions above:
- the viewer spends about $450 on coins in the app for a 29,999-coin Lion;
- the creator receives about 15,000 Diamonds;
- at $0.005 per Diamond, that’s about $75;
- after PayPal fees of 1.5% plus $0.10, they withdraw a little under $74.
Keep the gap in mind: between what the viewer pays ($300 to $450) and what the creator withdraws, there are app store fees, TikTok’s share and withdrawal fees. A Lion is still a lovely gesture, but it isn’t $400 landing in the creator’s account.
The Lion vs other TikTok gifts
Here are some coin prices noted by Otto AI in March 2026. The catalog varies by country and app version, so check in your own app before sending anything.
- Rose: 1 coin;
- Rocket: 500 coins;
- Galaxy: 1,000 coins;
- Concert: 3,000 coins;
- Planet: 15,000 coins;
- Lion: 29,999 coins;
- TikTok Universe: 34,999 coins.
So the Lion isn’t the most expensive gift, but it’s often the one people notice, because its animation fills the whole screen and its price stays within reach of a LIVE’s biggest supporters. If you just want to make a creator you like smile, a Rose or a Galaxy is plenty. The creator sees your name either way.
How to send a Lion during a LIVE
- Check your age and balance: you need to be 18 to buy coins. Your coin balance shows up in your profile menu.
- Buy your coins on the web if you can: the tiktok.com/coin page advertises around 25% savings compared to the app. Log in with your account and pick a pack.
- Open the creator’s LIVE: tap the gift icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Select the Lion: scroll the catalog to the high-end gifts and tap the Lion.
- Confirm: the animation plays for every viewer, with your name. It’s final: gifts can’t be refunded or turned back into coins, according to TikTok’s policy.
A useful reminder for readers in the EU: the same policy says your right of withdrawal ends as soon as the coins are credited to your account. Set a budget before you open a LIVE, especially during PK battles, where the pressure to send gifts builds fast.
How to receive Lions and cash out
On the creator side, the requirements come from TikTok’s help center: at least 18 (19 in South Korea), at least 1,000 followers, a country where the feature is available and an account in good standing. Under 1,000 followers, you can’t receive gifts, however good your LIVEs are. If you’re close, a few TikTok likes on your best videos help bring in new followers faster.
For withdrawals, TikTok publishes its limits on a dedicated page (checked on September 10, 2026): a minimum of $1 via PayPal, $5 by bank transfer in France, $9 in Germany or the UK, a cap of about $1,000 per day, and fees of 1.5% plus $0.10 via PayPal or $2.90 by bank transfer. One withdrawal per day, to an account in your name.
If you want more Lions, the logic never changes: more loyal viewers on your LIVEs, more chances a big supporter shows up. Our LIVE guide covers settings, guests and PK battles.
Not at 1,000 followers yet?
That’s the threshold that unlocks LIVE gifts. A boost in followers gets you there faster, so your first Lion isn’t just a dream.
